Korean Researchers Develop Blood Sugar Tests

Jakarta, Both patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes should control their blood sugar to prevent things that are not desirable. The way, by measuring the blood sugar every time. But who can stand if their body parts need to be stuck needle every time to be taken blood samples? This condition inspired a team of researchers from Seoul National University to develop a special sensor that can detect blood sugar levels without need to take blood samples, but by utilizing sweat.Dipip from the BBC, Friday (10/3/2017), its shape like patch, consists of three sensors that function to calculate blood sugar levels; four sensors to test the level of acidity of sweat; as well as the humidity sensor to calculate the volume of sweat produced. Then like a flash, the patch was left off then all the information obtained is transferred to a portable computer that will perform the task of analyzing blood sugar levels.

Firstly, the body's sugar levels detected in sweat are not as much in the blood, making it difficult to detect. Second, there are other ingredients in sweat such as lactic acid that can interfere with the reading of the results. Apart from that, these patches are guaranteed waterproof. Sweat samples needed for this test also do not need much, just 'a few drops' saja.Ujicoba have been done by researchers, namely to a number of participants before and after meals. In a report published in the journal Science Advances, the results show that the accuracy of these patches is considered as good as the usual method. Even on separate occasions, researchers are also trying to use these patches to include diabetes drugs, ie metformin in certain doses to the body of mice with diabetes.
